About the event
We invite representatives from Swiss Doctoral Schools and Research Data Management (RDM) professions from Swiss higher education institutions to an exclusive event showcasing a newly developed curriculum for Research Data Management (RDM) and Open Science. Developed as part of the innovative USI project "Research Data Management at Summer School in Social Science Methods," this curriculum, developed collaboratively with FORS, offers a comprehensive, practical, and adaptable framework for equipping doctoral candidates and researchers with essential RDM and Open Science competencies.
In an era of increasing data complexity and evolving research paradigms, robust RDM and Open Science skills are no longer optional but fundamental for reproducible research, ethical data handling, and maximising research impact. This event will demonstrate how our curriculum can serve as a valuable resource for your institution, helping to strengthen research integrity, meet evolving funder requirements, and prepare the next generation of researchers for the open science landscape.
Why Your Institution Should Attend
- Enhance Doctoral Training: Discover a ready-to-implement curriculum that seamlessly integrates vital RDM and Open Science skills into doctoral programmes, ensuring your PhD candidates are at the forefront of modern research practices.
- Optimise Training Resources: Explore a well-structured, modular curriculum that can complement or enhance your existing RDM training initiatives, potentially saving development time and resources.
- Foster Collaboration: Engage with the curriculum developers and other RDM professionals, fostering a network for sharing best practices in RDM and Open Science education across Switzerland.
Who Should Attend
This event is specifically designed for:
- Heads/Coordinators of Doctoral Schools in Switzerland
- RDM Trainers and Specialists from Swiss universities and research institutions
- Research Support Staff involved in RDM services and training
- Librarians with a focus on research support and data services
- Policy Makers interested in national RDM and Open Science strategies
Ongoing Training Opportunity: Join Us in Lugano!
For institutions looking to optimise resources and provide their researchers with top-tier RDM and Open Science training without developing in-house programmes, consider sending your doctoral candidates and researchers to our regularly delivered course in Lugano, each November.
This expertly led course provides an immersive learning experience delivered by the very team who developed the curriculum. Beyond acquiring crucial skills, participants will benefit from an invaluable networking opportunity, connecting with fellow researchers not only from Switzerland but also from across Europe. This diverse environment fosters collaboration and broadens perspectives, enriching the overall learning journey.
Further details on registration for the November course will be provided at the event.
About the Project
This curriculum is the direct output of the USI project "Research Data Management at Summer School in Social Science Methods" (Project ID: 3133) funded by the swissuniversities. This initiative has focused on developing robust RDM educational content, initially piloted within a social science context, but designed for broader applicability across disciplines. Our goal is to contribute to a national ecosystem of high-quality RDM training.
